About Please Be Quiet:

I’m a librarian at the College of DuPage, the largest single-campus community college in the Midwest.  I come to librarianship by way of almost 10 years in the restaurant industry and frequently look back on the day that I said “I can’t take it anymore,” kicked some rude people out of my restaurant and sat on a milk crate behind the bar and drank two shots of really good rum.  Since I finished my MLS in 2006 and I haven’t been called a bitch by any customers, haven’t had to take anyone’s salmon away and never resort to heavy drinking on the job.

My currently preoccupations include library marketing and publicity (I’m the chair of my Library’s Publicity Committee), combining social software and information literacy in distracting and entertaining ways and various professional development opportunities.

I am the liaison to the ESL/ABE/GED programs at the College, student and community outreach librarian, online college librarian, and collection development librarian for the Library Technical Assistant program.

I blog all over the place, including 3D, Josh Is Interested and my ESL/ABE/GED Faculty Newsletter (a thinly disguised blog so as not to scare anyone).
