Have you visited the Library Information Literacy Online Network? LION TV, (the “Literacy” is silent– that strikes me as an odd choice) is a site supported by ANTS (man, these acronyms… ) the tutorial sharing project and features a pretty substantial collection of videos– tutorials on everything from specific databases or features within specific databases, to online tools like Wikipedia. The latest addition is Richard Baer’s “Introduction to Google Docs”
The best thing about the ANTS tutorials is that they’re there for you and your library to use! ANTS provides users with source code and embedding code for SWF files and embedding code for FLV files. The website, a Wetpaint wiki, also has tips for creating screencasts of your own. Once you’re a master of animated tutorials, you can come back and submit your own award-worthy creations.
I tend to forget about ANTS. I was on a tutorial-making roll for awhile, but when I got a new computer, I suddenly had audio input issues and gave up in frustration. Luckily, ANTS comes up pretty regularly in ILI-L posts so I can have my memory jogged and revisit this great project and see the latest community contributions.
